My Credentials Summary

Learned from the best

I was lucky to start my career in some of the world’s leading (at the time) multi-national companies : Nortel, Dell and Hitachi.

I worked in each of those companies for about 3 years, based in Dublin (Ireland), Berkshire (UK) and Paris (France), always targeting global markets.

Studied the text book stuff too

Bachelor of Business Studies degree and MBA (and some other courses).

1000 Start-Ups in 10 years

After 10 years in the multi-national world, I took a leap of faith and went out on my own. My B2B marketing experience was really timely as Dublin’s “high potential” tech start-up scene was exploding. Founders were really smart entrepreneurs who tended to be product innovators rather than marketing or commercial gurus, so I found my niche!

I was either training a group of tech entrepreneurs on incubator programmes all around Ireland, or doing one to one mentoring and consultancy sessions or reviewing business plans. It was an exciting time to be in the start-up world. I was working with really smart people with incredibly exciting business ideas. Every day was different and buzzy.

I know the journey founders are on, and the pitfalls you face. I can help you avoid those pitfalls and grow your business.

A decade later, I was keen to focus on one product or business rather than advise others. So when an award-winning founder asked me to come on board as full-time Marketing Director (and shareholder), I jumped at the opportunity. Just one year later, the founder declined a multi-million dollar purchase offer for the business. Just two years later, (2014), we won every award we entered, including Start-Up of the Year and Emerging Exporter of the Year.

I ran our ecommerce and channel divisions (at different times). Our ecommerce sites are in 6 languages. We trained and supported global channel partners in their local markets from Jeddah to Moscow.

6 years after I joined, it was time for me to move on. At this stage, I was Joint Managing Director, we had ecommerce sites in 6 languages and channel partners in several countries on every continent. It was time for my next adventure.

Now I’ve moved my start-up knowledge and expertise online in the form of stories, check-lists, how-to’s, advice and mentoring and lots more.

It’s not just my own experience, it’s what I’ve learnt too from the hundreds of start-ups I have had the pleasure of working with and learning from.
